This Village of Pleasantville “treasure” received another chance to bring beauty and service to the community. After many years of neglect, this Victorian gem in Pleasantville , New York, was restored and revived to become an award-winning professional office space. Located on the edge of downtown Pleasantville, it is now a workplace home to a variety of professionals and small business owners. Charles H. Henkels, the Manhattan architect with a background in historic renovations, who oversaw the restoration notes: “Among the structures’ most striking features is the Queen Anne octagonal turret on the second floor.” He also described the 80 foot front porch with its elaborate woodwork as one of the most eye-catching he has seen. The building is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, and satisfies the requirements as a “green” building. It has truly been a community project that has involved the cooperation and support of Village Government and The Friends of Marmaduke, a non-profit organization founded with the mission to oversee the preservation of the Marmaduke House façade.
